Student Success in Salford Royal Open Day Competition
Year 12 Health and Social Care student at St Ambrose Barlow Sixth Form, John-Lloyd Done, beat off the competition at the Salford Royal open day to be declared the winner of a resuscitation activity competition.
The open day is the NHS Trust’s annual showcasing of its services and departments and students visited as part of their Health and Social care course. All the students had chance to take part in the competition run by the hospital's critical care team. Several hundred people attended the day, and many participated in the same activity with a resuscitation dummy linked up to a state-of-the-art digital system to measure the effectiveness of critical life-saving techniques.
John-Lloyd’s impressive score of 97% was the highest on the day, winning him an iPod.
There were over 60 stalls at the event promoting hospital and community, complemented by local and national support organisations and partner agencies. As well as stalls, a number of tours and tasters were available including tours of the resuscitation and skills training laboratories, tours around the site and taster sessions of exercise and dance classes.
