Students First to Gain Work Placements at Salford Royal Hospital
Five Health and Social Care students from St Ambrose Barlow Sixth Form are the first in Salford to be awarded work experience placements at Salford Royal Hospital on the new post 16 scheme.
Following successful interviews with the hospital's student placement officer, the Year 13 students will undertake 1 day a week placements in various departments depending on their interests and career plans. John Lloyd will be placed in the Outpatients' department, Chloe on an Elderly Care ward, Alison on a Neurosurgery ward, Chloe on the Heart Care Unit and Joanne on a Neurology ward.
Lead tutor for Health and Social Care, Angela Jones, said: “St Ambrose Sixth Form are the first Health & Social Care students in Salford to be offered this opportunity through the hospital's newly developed post-16 work experience strategy. These five students underwent challenging professional interviews with the hospital's newly appointed Placement and Volunteer Coordinator, and have done extremely well to be selected for work experience placements as a result.”
Student John Lloyd said: “I am very excited about my new placement at Salford Royal and I can't wait to be working in the Outpatients department. I am hoping to gain more knowledge and skills to support my university application for adult nursing. I am very happy to have this opportunity." Chloe added: “I am really looking forward to my placement at Salford Royal, and am thankful for this great opportunity.”
