Dear Parent, Carer or Friend of St. Ambrose Barlow, I am sure that, like our staff, you have been deeply affected by the terrible events in Manchester city centre. As a school community we are fortunate that although some pupils and staff were present at the concert, all are alive and well. Our staff have provided as much support as possible to young people who are upset by recent events and we will continue to do so over the coming days. On Tuesday we said prayers as a staff and in each form group in memory of those killed and injured and as a gesture of solidarity with all affected by the attack.

Sixth Form College Admissions

Our Sixth Form is a vibrant, exciting and caring place where everyone is welcome. We are a unique College and we seek to find the unique and special qualities of each student; to make them the best version of themselves they can be. For this reason, ideally we would want those students wishing to study at Level 3 to have achieved at least five grade Cs or above at GCSE with a grade B in their chosen A Level or BTEC subject. This is to determine the appropriateness of the course selected. However we are flexible in this requirement and assess each applicant on their skills and potential. We want to develop the growth mind-set of our students so it is their willingness to learn that is most important to us. Potential students will have the opportunity to demonstrate this at interview.

We recognise the importance of our College to the local community, as one of only two A Level providers in Salford. Therefore we want to give as many opportunities for students to study with us as we can, to provide life changing prospects in an inclusive and supportive way. We are proudly a Catholic College but are open to all faiths and none.
