Dear Parent, Carer or Friend of St. Ambrose Barlow, I am sure that, like our staff, you have been deeply affected by the terrible events in Manchester city centre. As a school community we are fortunate that although some pupils and staff were present at the concert, all are alive and well. Our staff have provided as much support as possible to young people who are upset by recent events and we will continue to do so over the coming days. On Tuesday we said prayers as a staff and in each form group in memory of those killed and injured and as a gesture of solidarity with all affected by the attack.

School Direct Brings Top Quality Teachers to Salford

The School Direct Programme at St Ambrose Barlow is proving a hugely successful initiative to drive up the number of high quality teachers training and working in the local area.

Trainees from the past three cohorts have been employed at our own school following the completion of their course and have proved valuable assets to the Maths, English, Art, MFL, and Science departments. 100% of graduates from our programme have gained employment in a teaching role, many within schools in Salford and the majority within the Greater Manchester area.100% of graduates have qualified with outstanding or good.

The training programme is open to top graduates and career changers as well as those that are already working at, or have an existing relationship with, a school and want to take the next step. It offers talented individuals the chance to be part of a teaching team from day one by combining teacher training with on-the-job learning.

Successful candidates are eligible for a tax-free bursary or a scholarship as well as the chance to train alongside experienced teachers.

You can read profiles of our former trainees here.

If you would like to apply for our teacher training programme you can find more details here.
