St Ambrose Barlow has a great deal of experience and expertise in school to school support. We specialise in offering schools bespoke support programmes, which enable organisations, departments and staff to ensure they are maximising performance and outcomes in their school.

If you have a focus area that needs developing or requires some guided support we can make a difference with you. Specialist Leaders of Education (SLE's) and National Leaders of Education (NLE's) will provide specialist targeted support in the areas you need. So far, we have worked with a number of schools by delivering support programmes across all subject areas which have improved standards of teaching, learning and progress in these areas. We have particular expertise in Maths, Creativity and Engineering.

The St Ambrose Barlow Teaching School Alliance has been formed on the basis of trust and mutual collaboration with all members sharing the same ethos and philosophy. The Alliance has been formed from schools and further and higher education providers who are determined to offer models of best practice which not only benefits those schools in need of support but the wider system. There will be consistency of approach and best use will be made of the wide ranging experience of Alliance partners. This range of experience within the Alliance will impact from Nursery through to University and will be able to deliver:

  • Primary Maths and Literacy support
  • ITP, OTP and OFP programmes, middle level leader programme, new Head teacher programme and NLE and SLE support training
  • Extensive research and development in key areas
  • Improved Assessment for Learning, tracking and intervention strategies
  • School to School support - through an extensive and developing network of primary and secondary SLE's.
  • Weekly CPD training - from primary, secondary, special education and higher education
  • High quality ITT specialising in the delivery of STEM subjects
  • Leadership support for all Secondary Curriculum
  • Bespoke support for English and Maths
  • Training in many areas of SEN including ASD, MLD and SLD including staff support

The Ambrose Alliance brings together a breadth of experience across its range of strategic partners including 3 NLE's and 3 LLE's with strengths in different areas - post 16 provision, special education, primary education and Higher Education. The Alliance will ensure that experience is effectively matched to the demand required of school to school support and activities will be allocated on the basis of the vast range of experience within it. The Alliance is committed to raising standards in very challenging circumstances and supporting schools through difficult challenges. Alliance schools, post 16 provision and Higher Educational establishments have many areas graded 1 by Ofsted and will call upon expertise from outside the teaching profession, including businesses and creative partners, to support improvement.

The Alliance strategic partners are all committed to school improvement. The Alliance identifies that talent is a pre-condition of high quality professional development and has trained staff to deliver ITP, OTP and OFP programmes thus increasing the number of staff taking on leadership roles within schools. It will offer a bespoke coaching programme for middle level leaders, NPQH applicants and new Headteachers through a "head to head" programme. From September 2013 the alliance will be delivering the NPQSL & NPQML in conjunction with St John Plessington Catholic College.
