Intent Statement

Our curriculum aims to foster a love of language and literature in our learners; building on their successes at KS2 and equipping them with the skills and knowledge which will enable them to be effective and confident communicators for life.

Through our study of the Ambrose Canon, we will take pupils on a journey of some of the greatest texts and characters in literature around the world. Our hope is to instil a love of reading in our learners; challenging them to be deep, critical and empathetic thinkers, as they explore the key themes and ‘big ideas’ across texts and make sense of the literary world as a reflection of society of the time. In doing so, we will enable our pupils to become articulate and appreciative in their discussion of language, through access to an ambitious, engaging and bespoke curriculum. This will provide pupils with opportunities to write imaginatively and discursively and help them to see themselves as changemakers, who are able to shape both their own futures and the world around them.
